Club History

In 2005 a small group of bmx rid­ers started to race under the East Kent BMX name. These rid­ers knew that the Herne & Broom­field coun­cil were look­ing to build a bmx track for the local com­mu­nity. This would then give East Kent BMX rid­ers a home .

In 2006 work started on an old land­fill site in Broom­field, Kent to pro­vide a wood­land walk and a BMX track.  Work on the BMX track was com­pleted in Novem­ber of 2007 , but the whole site was still under con­struc­tion at that time.

The fol­low­ing year East Kent BMX received Lot­tery Fund­ing which allowed them to buy the equip­ment they needed to start a full BMX rac­ing club. A date was set in May of 2008 for the offi­cial open­ing and the inau­gural race meet­ing at the Broom­field Track.

In 2010 Herne & Broom­field coun­cil funded the resur­fac­ing of the track and tar­ma­c­ing of one berm. This was fol­lowed by the mod­i­fy­ing of the rest of the berms being resur­faced with tar­mac in 2011, bring­ing the track up to the very high­est standard.

Dur­ing the autumn of 2011 the club was restruc­tured and a full com­mit­tee was appointed. The com­mit­tee have agreed to work hard to bring a full pro­gram of events to the club, start­ing with the East Kent BMX Win­ter Series in November.
