In 2005 a small group of bmx riders started to race under the East Kent BMX name. These riders knew that the Herne & Broomfield council were looking to build a bmx track for the local community. This would then give East Kent BMX riders a home .
In 2006 work started on an old landfill site in Broomfield, Kent to provide a woodland walk and a BMX track. Work on the BMX track was completed in November of 2007 , but the whole site was still under construction at that time.
The following year East Kent BMX received Lottery Funding which allowed them to buy the equipment they needed to start a full BMX racing club. A date was set in May of 2008 for the official opening and the inaugural race meeting at the Broomfield Track.
In 2010 Herne & Broomfield council funded the resurfacing of the track and tarmacing of one berm. This was followed by the modifying of the rest of the berms being resurfaced with tarmac in 2011, bringing the track up to the very highest standard.
During the autumn of 2011 the club was restructured and a full committee was appointed. The committee have agreed to work hard to bring a full program of events to the club, starting with the East Kent BMX Winter Series in November.
